Seed Production
In this era of increasing pressure on agriculture for increased food demand there is need for improving quality of various agricultural crop seeds. Government is intervening in such seed production activities introducing various subsidized seed production and distribution programs. Many of these programs risk being closed down due to privatization and liberalization. But, the future for seed production appears to be bright in Punjab with PAIC’s endeavor seed production.
Now, PAIC has to expand in the field of seed production and they have planned to production the oil seeds, pulses seed, fodder seeds, etc with the aim provide the superior quality of seed for sowing to the farmers of Punjab.
There are currently 41 registered farmers who are producing wheat seed in the state of Punjab.
Wheat is a high-volume seed crop produced primarily by heavily subsidized government seed programs. Many of these programs risk being closed down due to privatization and liberalization. But, the future for wheat seed production appears to be bright in Punjab with PAIC’s endeavor wheat seed production.

- Farmer registration There are currently 41 registered farmers who are producing wheat seed in the state of Punjab.
- How to get registered Farmers with fertile land for wheat seed cultivation can register by contacting PAIC Office at 75080-01903 or 94656-74977.
- Benefits to farmers PAIC will sign an agreement with the farmers. The registered farmers will get benefits such as ₹ 250.00 + MSP on the seed after grading.
Wheat Production
Wheat is the major crop cultivated in Punjab as well as Punjab is the 3rd largest producer of wheat, approximately 34.90 lakh hectares of land in Punjab is under wheat production.
An area of 34.90 Lakh is under wheat seed cultivation in Punjab where several seeds are being cultivated. The high-quality breeder seeds that are cultivated include:

Paddy Production
Paddy, also called rice, is main kharif crop cultivated in Punjab. In Punjab, area under Paddy cultivation is 31.30 lakh hectares.
