PAIC
We aim to make high-quality, nutritious silage available to farmers at an affordable price. Punjab Agro Industries Corporation Limited has ventured into the silage-making project in the financial year 2021-22 with an investment of Rs. 8.02 Cr. under the RKVY scheme with high-tech imported machinery at Ladhowal, District Ludhiana.
Recently 3 more silage projects at Nakodar, Sirhind and Ludhiana have been set up under a special assistance scheme to the state.
What We Do
The Silage Project is catering to the needs of farmers having their dairy farms in Punjab and later will expand its reach to neighbouring states.
The cultivation of fodder (Maize) for silage is done on an area of 750 (approx.) acres through contract farming which will expand/increase up to 1000-1200 acres as per the demand of the fodder (silage bales) per season per project.
Currently the project is preparing 100 Kg and 400 Kg silage bales for dairy farmers and cooperative milk societies.
- Silage is a type of fodder made from green foliage crops preserved by acidification, achieved through fermentation.
- It can be fed to cattle and other ruminants (cud-chewing animals).
- The fermentation and storage process is called ensilage, ensiling or silaging.
- It is usually made from grass crops, including maize, sorghum or other cereals, using the entire green plant (not just the grain)

As we all know Punjab plays a vital role in Indian dairy sector, to enhance the productivity of Punjab’s Dairy sector and to ensure an adequate supply of quality feed and fodder, because there is need to reduce the gap between required and available green fodder through technological intervention to increase the fodder yield and preservation of fodder. Ultimately this project is advantageous for dairy farmers as well as for Maize (Fodder) growers.
- Strong value chain to make high-quality maize silage bales.
- High-quality hybrid seeds & inoculants to grow (Fodder) Maize by open and contract farming with a proper package of practices for highly nutritious silage.
- PAIC make silage available to the farmers at affordable prices with minimum margins.
- Best-in-class UV rays-proof stretch film as a covering material for bales.
- PAIC-made silage has a shelf life of around 18-24 months.
- PAIC offers silage at the best price all year round.
